Monday 9th February to Sunday 15th February 2026 marks National Apprenticeship Week, a nationwide celebration of the positive impact apprenticeships have on individuals, businesses, and the wider economy. Blackpool Restaurant Week is proud to highlight Blackpool & The Fylde College (B&FC) and the important role apprenticeships play in supporting hospitality and catering across the resort.
Culinary & Hospitality Apprenticeships at B&FC
Hospitality apprenticeships provide real-world experience in a fast-paced, people-focused industry. Through Blackpool & The Fylde College, apprentices gain hands-on experience in professional kitchens and front-of-house environments while earning and developing essential workplace skills.
B&FC currently offers two hospitality apprenticeship programmes:
- Level 2 Production Chef
- Level 2 Food and Beverage Team Member
Both programmes are designed to support learners at the start of their hospitality careers, helping them build confidence, professionalism, and practical skills valued by employers.
Supporting Blackpool Restaurant Week
For the second year running, B&FC students are involved in Blackpool Restaurant Week activities, gaining valuable practical experience while supporting staff wellbeing, training, and social value across the event. Their involvement helps raise awareness of hospitality as a rewarding and accessible career choice.
Why Choose an Apprenticeship in Hospitality?
Apprentices starting as Production Chefs or Food and Beverage Team Members develop core skills in food preparation, customer service, teamwork, and communication. These apprenticeships provide a strong foundation for continued employment and future progression within the hospitality industry.
Employers benefit from motivated learners developing industry-relevant skills, while apprentices gain hands-on experience that prepares them for long-term success.
Facilities and Training
Blackpool & The Fylde College offers state-of-the-art training kitchens and an on-site training restaurant, allowing apprentices to develop both culinary and front-of-house skills under expert guidance. These facilities ensure learners are well prepared for the demands of modern hospitality environments.
Opportunities for the Future
Hospitality apprenticeships help learners develop transferable skills such as organisation, communication, teamwork, and time management. These skills support a wide range of future opportunities within the hospitality sector and beyond.
By partnering with Blackpool & The Fylde College, Blackpool Restaurant Week is proud to celebrate emerging hospitality talent and the vital role apprenticeships play in developing skills, experience, and confidence for the future.
